Occhio all'Emca.
The École des Métiers du Cinéma d’Animation of Angoulême is a renowed school known for its exceptional nature nurtured not only by the extraordinary artistic outcomes accomplished by its students through the years - as scholars first and professionals then -, but also by the pedagogical grounds with which it was founded in 1999, thanks to the willpower and commitment of Christian Arnau.
Born from the Angoulême Chamber of Commerce that saw in the Image Industry a core role in revamping the regional economy, the École - under Arnau’s joyful, defecting guidance - quickly became an establishment not voted to the production of professional technicians but interested in pursuing the creative process of its pupils; by doing so, it successfully conjugated attention to each’s identity and poetics to a horizontal sharing of common goals.

Tecnica Mista, a programming dedicated to the promotion of animation and curated by the Bolognaise studio SEIPERDUE under the supervision of Lucia Malerba and Niccolò Manzolini, found in Ahmed Ben Nessib (animator, illustrator, École alumnus) the ideal partner to present within A occhi aperti the widest overview of what the school produced and was later developed: 32 short films by different artists will be presented in two occasions both prior and during the festival; a supporting conference will be hosted, featuring Elisa Lévy, Isis Leterrier, Madolia Dubois, Florent Morin and Ahmed Ben Nessib himself - all former students who attended the École and became internationally-recognised artists.
Christian Arnau will remotely join.
