Matteo Gaspari

Matteo Gaspari is editorial director the series "Fumetti" by Italian publishing house Add Editore. He was one of the curators of BilBOlbul International Comics Festival and teaches courses on comics and videogames. He is a member of the jury of Treviso Comic Book Festival's Carlo Boscarato award. In 2017 he founded the online magazine "Banana Oil", dedicated to comics. He has worked on the translation and lettering of foreign comics for the Italian market, and writes a column on comics in the magazine "Blow Up".

Can a cartoon become a tool for researching the state of a city? And can the way in which the city is depicted be a vehicle for a transformation of urban space? The project The Animated City, aimed at elementary schools in the city of Settimo Torinese, is the opportunity to reflect on the relationship between urban space and representation.

Specchi di perturbante realtà

The spaces drawn by Erik Svetoft in his comics are haunted by grotesque creatures and disturbing entities that recall certain aspects typical of Internet aesthetics -  that is, all the liminal spaces of the Net in which subcultures proliferate and constitute an alien territory. Svetoft rereads his work together with Stefano Caselli, researcher in the field of gaming, and Matteo Gaspari.
